He is a Certified Safety Professional with more than three decades of rich experience in Oil Industry, studded with professional brilliance predominantly in the areas of Health, Safety & Environment Management. Presently working as Senior Safety Engineer with Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait.

  • Before joining in KOC, he worked with ONGC for about 20 Years at Vadodara and Mumbai from 1984 to 2005. 
  • Served American Society of Safety Professionals, Kuwait Chapter in different capacities as Secretary for 2008-09 and 2009-10, as President of ASSP Kuwait Chapter during 2010-11. Served ASSP as Steering Committee member ASSE GCC HSE Excellence Award Programs 2009, 2010 and 2011. 
  • He organized many International HSSE & Loss Prevention Professional Development Conferences. Convener of  PDC 2011 Organizing Committee to organize 6th International HSSE & Loss Prevention Professional development Conference and exhibition, Kuwait. Director of  PDC 2013 Organizing Committee to organize 7th International HSSE & Loss Prevention Professional development Conference and exhibition, Kuwait. At present, he is serving ASSP as Strategic Advisory Committee Member of ASSP Kuwait Chapter.
  • Served as General Secretary of Seemandhra Muslim Welfare Association (SAMWA).
  • He is the Founder President of HSE Professionals Forum, Kuwait, served HSEPF as President from 2010 to 2022.
  • President of AMP (Association of Muslim Professionals), Kuwait from 2020 to 2022.
  • President of Engineers Welfare Federation (EWF), Kuwait, which is member of FIMA (Federation of Indian Muslim Associations), Kuwait.
  • Presented several Technical papers in the International HSSE Conferences in the field of HSSE. Presented several webinars/webtalks on various topics such as HSE Management System, Career Growth Opportunities in HSSE, Career Growth Opportunities in Middle East, Bench marking of HSSE Performance, Incident Management System, Major Incidents in the Oil Industry etc.
  • He got several awards and appreciations during his career. Winner of ASSE’s 2011 NAOSH Champion Award. Winner of ASSE Kuwait Chapter’s Safety Professional of the Year Award 2010. 
  • Awarded with “International Face of the Year Award” by Association of Muslim Professionals on 9th January  2020 during AMPs National Executive Meet 2020 Program. Due to his contribution and initiatives, AMP Kuwait Chapter has been recognized as “Best International Chapter” among all the chapters outside India on 9th January  2020 during AMPs National Executive Meet 2020 Program.
  • He is also a Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, IOSH, UK. Lead Auditor of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. He has eexpertise in Planning & Selection of appropriate HSE Measures for company and Fixing of Targets/Tolerance Values of HSE Measures for the company’s Balanced Score Card with an objective of achieving continual improvement.  Developing various processes to report/ record and track all HSE measures. Exhibits excellence in HSE Reporting requirements, Procedures and guidelines for the company/ Contractors. Dealing with IOGP, GCC Reports and task force committees. Pioneered in introducing various processes in Kuwait Oil Company for better HSE management System and Performance.

Professional experience: 

  • Geological Survey of India – 7 years in very hostile states like Nagaland , Arunachal Pradesh  and Assam. Accepted challenges and took up tasks like  collection , interpretation of  geological & geophysical data , recommend for mineral prospecting & offer solutions to challenging Structural and Engineering problems. Could also get an excellent command in technical aspects & additionally got good exposure to understand cultures of different states, temperament of people and gained lot of confidence in dealing with problems during discharge of duties
  • Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) – 22 years in North eastern states & Gujarat: Main responsibility was to supervise field operations for collection of data , interpret and propose suitable locales for exploratory & development oil & gas wells. Tactfully tackled lot of resistance from the locals  & smoothly completed  challenging assignments.   Association with this organisation provided ample opportunity in developing into a confident geoscientist, which opened way to join oil firm in Kuwait. Additionally got good exposure to understand structure of a Navaratna company and its corporate policies
  • Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) – 11 yrs : Challenging task was to explore Palaeozoic prospects, more than 20,000 ft, it was very challenging as quality of data from very deeper horizons was very   poor . Successfully completed assignments like preparing of structural maps & identification of locales for oil & gas exploration from very deeper horizons. Interaction with persons from different countries gave an opportunity to work in a multinational environment  with exchange of technical ideas 
  • Four decades of experience in profession developed me into a good earth scientist & exposure to other fields gave an excellent opportunity to develop confidence in planning , executing different projects and managing  hurdles / problems

A committed and dedicated Social Worker. With an objective of serving the community, he resigned his job and migrated to Guntur, AP to start an Islamic School with the sole aim of serving the community. He along with his wife established “Millat English Medium School” in the year 2012 in the city of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He started the journey with 6 students in 2012. Despite many hurdles, today he has 300+ students and a staff of 20 in his school. 

Further to this, he is moving forward to expand this Millat English Medium School to meet the expectations of the community and society at large and add value to the community by teaching Islamic education along with other requiremnts as per the educational curricullam. Her academic career spans various leadership roles, including Professor, Head of Department, Vice Principal, and Principal at Nimra Women’s Engineering College, Vijayawada. A prolific researcher, Dr. Shaheen Taj has published extensively, including research articles and a reference book on Native American Women’s Literature. Pharm. and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Dr. Arifa Begum has made significant contributions to pharmaceutical research, with 26 international publications, 10 indexed in Scopus, and 53 citations to her credit. She has successfully guided 14 postgraduate students in their research endeavors. Her teaching portfolio includes a range of subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering areas such as Modern Pharmaceutics, Drug Delivery Systems, and Advanced Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics.

Recognized for her contributions to academia and research, she has received prestigious awards, including the Excellence in Teaching in Higher Education Award (2022) and the Best Research Award (2019). She has also actively contributed to academic administration as a member of the UG & PG Board of Studies, Governing Body, and Academic Council of her institution.

Dr. Arifa Begum’s expertise is further acknowledged through her role as a Ph.D. thesis evaluator for universities and as a reviewer for international peer-reviewed pharmaceutical journals. In 2019, she was selected as a Nominee of CCSEA, New Delhi. Additionally, she has played a key role in securing research funding, serving as the Coordinator for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, under which her institution received a seed grant from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Dr Arifa is a life member of IPA, APTI, IPGA, and APP, actively contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical education and research.
